It's what we have always wanted in a loudspeaker.

Four, internally powered, U.S. made 10" extreme low frequency drivers in the back, two Zu260FR mk2 full range drivers assisted by our ZuT1 3/4" super-tweeter on the face, the Definition is more than capable of reproducing full bandwidth concert level playback of anything you throw its way. So why should a refined hi-fi guy that really only listens to chamber music consider Definition loudspeakers? Because there is no other loudspeaker able to provide the resolution, dynamic contrast or phase accuracy of the Definition. Its well balanced tone, distortion free dynamic range, perfect time-alignment--even in the low frequency range, combine for the next state of playback art.
Definition loudspeakers are now shipped with the majority of break-in being done at the factory. Each pair is played hard for at least 160 hours, with very dynamic content fully exercising their 130 dB dynamic range.

Definition VS Druid

While the Definition mk1.5 does use the same driver and super-tweeter as the Druid mk4 the sound is smoother, more detailed with a significant improvement in the recreation of three dimensional space. There are changes to the high-pass filter on the super-tweeter but the vast majority of improvements are reached through the balancing of the two drivers amplitude and phase, specific to a standard room and listening area. Also contributing to the increased fidelity is the near perfect load presented to the amplifier, where as the Druid has a more typical reactive load. The Definition's two main drivers are still network free, with nothing but our B3 silver alloy cable interconnecting them to the pure copper binding posts. As for the low frequency, the Druid is shy on the last octave (16 - 32 Hz), the Definition is not lacking in the least and reveals that the musical bandwidth truly extends down to 16Hz and getting the very bottom octave right will add a significant dimension to your experience.

Definition seems to have limitless bandwidth, resolution and dynamic capabilities and the integrates quite easily with both music-only and home theater systems and spaces.

Definition Basic Technical Points
  • 2 x Zu-260FR/G2 full range drivers. 8.5 octave bandwidth (-3 dB), 10.3" diameter, very high Bl, linear motor function, 25 gram moving mass, natural fiber cone assembly, cast frame, precision machined motor and pole assembly, 4 Ohm minimum impedance (6 Ohm nominal). 101 dB sensitivity.
  • Amplifier intimacy. Elimination of not just the crossover but also any other network element were part of the Definition model. FET, bipolar, digital, vacuum tube, all amplification types benefit from the increased intimacy the Definition provides.
  • B3 silver alloy internal cable technology.
  • The Definition is a torsion-box enclosure using a MDF wood core laminated with a very dense phenolic composite skin. Combined with driver design and placement the result is a super-structured enclosure that greatly reduces energy storage and box distortion compared to standard MDF enclosures.
  • Definition loudspeakers accept standard 1/4" spades, oversized spades, bare wire, bananas and pins via Cardas™ pure unplated copper binding posts.
  • ZuT1 super-tweeter with high pass filter running unimpeded from 12kHz.
  • Spikes are AISI 1062 steel, core hardened to Rc55.
  • Perfect finish, available in any color desired. Custom hues, flames, sublimations and other detail work are available (price quoted / job)
  • 60-day satisfaction guarantee.
  • Lifetime limited warranty on materials and workmanship.
  • Made in USA.

Custom Color & Finish Options:
Definition loudspeakers are finished with the finest automotive paint and finishing systems to produce a stunning finish that will continue to look factory fresh for decades. Definitions can be finished in any color you like and even allow you to specify reflective and other optical properties. Send us the exact color chip you want, be it a standard automotive paint code, wall paint chip or something you created and we can match it.

High gloss custom color surcharge $1,500 / pair. There is a three week build time for custom color. $1,500 surcharge is non refundable and is required to process custom color orders. Exotic and hotrod custom paint (metal flakes, pearls, candy, foreground art...) are quoted per job.

Internal Low Frequency Amp
120 V or 220 - 250 V -- The internal low frequency amplifier may be factory set to accept 220 V mains as well as 120 V.
Power rating is 5 Amps at 120 Volts, but as the four low frequency drivers are very sensitive very little of the amplifiers power is used, even under very loud low-frequency program material.
