It's what we have always wanted in a loudspeaker. Four, internally powered, U.S. made 10" extreme low frequency drivers in the back, two Zu260FR mk2 full range drivers assisted by our ZuT1 3/4" super-tweeter on the face, the Definition is more than capable of reproducing full bandwidth concert level playback of anything you throw its way. So why should a refined hi-fi guy that really only listens to chamber music consider Definition loudspeakers? Because there is no other loudspeaker able to provide the resolution, dynamic contrast or phase accuracy of the Definition. Its well balanced tone, distortion free dynamic range, perfect time-alignment--even in the low frequency range, combine for the next state of playback art. Definition VS Druid While the Definition mk1.5 does use the same driver and super-tweeter as the Druid mk4 the sound is smoother, more detailed with a significant improvement in the recreation of three dimensional space. There are changes to the high-pass filter on the super-tweeter but the vast majority of improvements are reached through the balancing of the two drivers amplitude and phase, specific to a standard room and listening area. Also contributing to the increased fidelity is the near perfect load presented to the amplifier, where as the Druid has a more typical reactive load. The Definition's two main drivers are still network free, with nothing but our B3 silver alloy cable interconnecting them to the pure copper binding posts. As for the low frequency, the Druid is shy on the last octave (16 - 32 Hz), the Definition is not lacking in the least and reveals that the musical bandwidth truly extends down to 16Hz and getting the very bottom octave right will add a significant dimension to your experience. Definition seems to have limitless bandwidth, resolution and dynamic capabilities and the integrates quite easily with both music-only and home theater systems and spaces.
